Virgil was born in Clarksdale Mississippi to his mother Elizabeth Strickland on November 23, 1957. He graduated high school in Lake Village, Arkansas. He was a veteran of the USMC until he began his lifelong career in the oilfield. Virgil enjoyed being a father and grandfather, as well as football, playing pool and having a good time with family and friends.
He is survived by his 2 daughters: Amber James (Chance Newton), Billie James (Josh Walker); his stepson: Brandon White; 5 grandchildren: Ricky Yanez, Seleste White, Piper James, Joshua Walker, and Hunter Walker; 2 sisters: Brenda and Mary Darnell; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth Mae Strickland.
