Virgie Lee "Bogan" Qualia of Midland passed peacefully into the Lord's hands on Saturday, April 28, in Midland with her loving family by her side.She was born November 1, 1927 in Lubbock, Texas, to Tom and Theresa Sneed. She attended Texas Tech University where she studied Literature and was a member of DFD sorority. She was preceded in death by her parents and radiant sisters, Dorothy and Patricia. Bogan was devoted to her strong Christian faith.She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Frank Qualia; one son, Charles Qualia and wife Beth of Midland, TX; three daughters, Mary Ann Qualia and husband Michael Martinez of Santa Fe, NM, Frances Betts and husband Blake of Austin, TX, and Patricia Sides and husband Fred of Georgetown, TX; one grandchild, Cooper Sides, which she proudly named as "perfect one and a half baby boy". She is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews.At Texas Tech, she was known as a vivacious and energetic student with a love for dancing. After meeting Frank, the absolute love of her life, they married on April 22, 1950. Bogan became a mother of four wonderful children who were her heart and soul. The addition of her grandson made her life complete.Bogan had so many friends, many of them she met while playing tennis. All were captivated by her strong will, but mostly because of the kindness in her heart. She loved the beach, where she and Frank spent numerous vacations enjoying the sound of the waves, the soft breeze, and walking the beach at South Padre Island.Bogan was known for her effervescent personality, charm, grace and independent spirit, as well as her affection for animals. She was a loving mother who imparted to her children the many exceptional qualities and life lessons that she lived by.A private graveside service will be held for immediate family, officiated by Monsignor Larry Droll of St. Ann's Catholic Church. The Qualias will receive family and friends to honor and celebrate the beautiful life of Bogan Qualia at Midland Country Club between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm on Wednesday, May 2.In lieu of flowers, she requested donations be made to Hospice of Midland, PO Box 2621, Midland, TX 79702 or an animal shelter of your choice.The family would like to share their gratitude and heartfelt thanks to her doctors, caregivers and Hospice of Midland for their tender and generous care.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
