Remembering a Special Life, Celebrating Someone Who Meant So Much

It’s not just the years that make a life, but the memories, kindness, and the mark we leave on others. Today, we take a moment to remember Vic who touched so many lives, whose story will live on in the hearts of everyone lucky enough to know him.

Growing Up: Building Character

From the very beginning, Vic showed a passion and zest for life that never faded. Childhood was full of laughter, energy, and a sense of wonder. The lessons learned in the early years in Carthage, NY-things like honesty, the comfort of family, and the importance of laughter— became lifelong guideposts. Vic was the second youngest of ten kids and grew up on a working farm. The work ethic from those early years remained with him through his entire life. Vic could fix anything – carpentry, vehicles, plumbing, electrical, roofing, etc… It seems appropriate that arguably the hardest working man that anyone has ever known passed on Labor Day.

Vic remained the consummate practical joker. He never took himself too seriously, and could always get a laugh from family, or a smile from strangers.
His parents had a deep Catholic faith that transcended his entire life. Three of his sisters dedicated their entire lives serving Christ as nuns. His parents and all of his siblings served in their own ways. This faith continued onto the next generation with his son, Father Terry
Brenon.

Family get-togethers and reunions were always lively, filled with stories, jokes, and simple moments that brought everyone closer. Vic’s favorite times were with family – with his siblings, his many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, his grandkids, and his great grandkids. His happiest times were with those that he cherished so much.
These times helped build a generous and caring outlook on life. Whether completing family projects or lending a hand to neighbors, Vic exemplified the true spirit of kindness.

His Partner in Crime and Family

Vic met his wife, Laura Janet Brenon (Janet), when she was working as a switchboard operator. They married in Norfolk, NY on October 12, 1957. All seven of their children were born in upstate New York. They moved to Midland, Texas in January 1976, where Vic and Janet still occupied the same house until his passing. Vic is survived by his wife Janet, son Father Terry, son Chris, son Charles, daughter Lisa Fournier and husband Steve, daughter Jennifer, son John and wife Carrie, grandson Cody Brenon, grandson Trevor Fournier and wife Jalyn, granddaughter Abigail Brenon, grandson Aiden Brenon, granddaughter Addison Brenon, and great grandchildren Ryland, Maddox, Nash, and Stevie. He is preceded in death by son Timothy.

Work and Making a Difference

At work, Vic was known for his dedication and work ethic. His career spanned over 35 years with the same organization (Western Electric/Southwestern Bell/AT&T). People remember him as someone who led by doing.
Vic’s charitable work is unmatched in today’s society. He was a 4th Degree with the Knights of Columbus and was recognized as the Man of the Year for the state of Texas by the Knights in 2002. Vic was a volunteer fireman, participated with softball for the blind, Special Olympics, Christmas in April, Habitat for Humana, St. Vincent DePaul, church fairs, Midland Memorial Hospital, and was a founding member of Helping Hands. Vic also spent many years portraying Santa Claus in the cutter from the family farm while distributing gifts in underprivileged neighborhoods.

A Heartfelt Goodbye

Saying goodbye is never easy. But as we remember the good times and the love we shared, we know that Vic’s spirit lives on in all of us. His journey might be over, but the lessons and love remain, carried forward by everyone he touched.
Vic’s laughter and big-heartedness will always be remembered. Please keep his memory alive by showing the same joy and compassion in our own lives.
Rest easy-you will always be in our hearts.

Viewing will be at 6:00 p.m., Monday, September 8, 2025 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel, with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m.  Funeral mass will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
