Vernon Cotton

Vernon Cotton, 83, of Big Spring, died on Monday, June 18, 2001, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Dr. Randy Cotton, son and pastor of Trinity Baptist Church and Dr. Claude Craven, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. He was born on March 12, 1918 in Wingate, Texas. Mr. Cotton moved to Big Spring in 1945 from Winters and worked in civil service at Webb Air Force Base, retiring in 1970. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1945. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Deantha Cotton of Midland and Randy and Jo Ann Cotton of Big Spring; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Faye Aldridge of Lawn; two grandsons, Justin Cotton of Midland and Greg Cotton of Big Spring; three granddaughters, Kerri Cotton of Midland and Karen Long and Debbie Dunn both of Big Spring; four great grandsons, Toby Cotton, Bryson Dunn, Tyler Dunn and Shay Long and four great granddaughters, Nita Cotton, Mallory Dunn, Kala Long and Krystle Long all of Big Spring. The family suggests memorials to: Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1448, Big Spring, Texas 79721-1448. The family will be at 2616 Ann. Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.,
