Velna Dale Garner

Velna Dale Garner, 70 of Midland, passed away on June 10, 2021. A memorial for Dale will be held at 6:00pm, Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel.

Dale was born on November 24, 1950 in Big Spring, Texas to Jane and Victor Brown. Dale and her family moved to Midland in 1958 where she was a lifetime resident. Dale was a graduate of Lee High School in 1969. She was a twenty five year patrol officer for the Midland Police Department and was the first female patrol officer for the department. Dale serviced the city of Midland from 1980 to 2005, and she received many commendations for her work.

Dale is preceded in death by her parents Victor and Jane Brown. She is survived by her husband, Terry Garner, who is also a retired Midland Police officer; sons, Heath Garner of Lubbock, Texas, Chris Lester of Sherman, Texas and John Lester of Kyle, Texas; one granddaughter, Payton “Missy” Lester of Sherman, Texas; two grandsons, Koby and Jake Lester of Denver, Colorado; three sisters, Dee Young and Ruth Lechwar of Midland, Texas, Mary Burleson of McKinney, Texas; brother, Victor Brown of Midland.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dale’s name to local hospice or local SPCA chapters.
