Velma Scoggins Dixon, 77, of Midland, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017 in Midland. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 12, 2017 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Second Baptist Church in Midland.Velma was born on June 28, 1939 to Ben and Ineeta Scoggins in Midland, TX. She was a devoted daughter, a loving wife, a terrific mother, and an amazing granny. She loved people of all ages. Her hobbies included: reading, going to BINGO, Friday night cards, Sunday afternoon lunches, and her greatest joy was playing with her grandkids. She faithfully attended Second Baptist Church for over 30 years and enjoyed working in the nursery both as the Director and a volunteer worker.She is survived by her daughter, Laura Hall and husband Bill, her son Michael Dixon and his wife Kodi, and three grandsons, Conner, Tucker, and Eric.She is preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Dixon, her mother, Ineeta Scoggins, and her father Ben Scoggins. Although she will be missed, Velma has made a joyful reunion with her beloved husband of over 40 years.Pallbearers will be Sydney Beal, James Cooper, Charles Morris, Ed Shrum, Roger Willis, and Chuck Wood.In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be donated to Second Baptist Church Missions Fund.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
