Vance Ervin Oliver passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 in Midland, Texas and went to be with his Lord and his beloved wife Mary Dean.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland. A funeral service will take place at 2:00 pm, Monday, February 28, 2022 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
He was born in Navarro County on December 20, 1940 to E.L. and Ruby Oliver of Corsican, Texas. The family later moved to West Texas where Vance graduated from Cotton Center High School in May of 1958. He obtained an Associate of Arts degree from South Plains College, prior to graduating from Texas Tech in June of 1963 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a teaching minor in History.
Vance Oliver enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1963, he was honorably discharged in 1969. During this time Vance taught at various schools in the South Plains area.
On October 31, 1964 Vance Oliver married Mary Dean Trostle in Brownfield, Texas. They were married for 55 years until her passing in September of 2020. The couple had three sons.
Vance was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Dean; his parents, E.L and Ruby Oliver; and a brother that died in infancy.
He is survived by his sister, Virginia Terry; his brother, Robert Oliver; his sons, Vance E. Oliver II and wife Debbie, Michael Dean Oliver, and Jay Kerry Oliver and wife Stephanie; grandchildren, Brandi, Nicole, Caitlin, Samantha, Kinzy, Blake, and Tatum; as well as six great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
