Trica Ann Cook was born on November 18, 1955 to Beth and L.R. Shoemaker. She married the love of her life, Steve Cook, on June 22, 1974 in Stanton, Texas at the First United Methodist Church. Steve and Trica built a beautiful life together. She was always so proud of their two sons, Nathan and Brady, and all of their accomplishments. Trica passed away on December 27, 2021.
Trica had an impactful career that nurtured her natural ability to teach and care for others through the Martin County Extension Office, Stanton ISD, and Midland ISD. In 1999, she received her Bachelor’s of Arts in History from the University of the Permian Basin and then her Master’s of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership in 2005. She worked hard in all that she did and set an example for many of her students and touched many lives.
Trica made every moment she was a part of special and knew how to show people they were treasured. She always told her grandsons that they were her treasure and they knew their Gigi loved them dearly. She loved to go to her grandchildren’s events and was their biggest fan. She lead with patience, strength, and poise in all areas of her life.
She is survived by her husband Steve Cook; her son Nathan Cook and his wife D’Lee and their two sons Carter and Callen; her son Brady Cook and his wife Jonna and their three sons Caleb, Colby, and Colton; her mother, Beth Shoemaker; her sister Trina Shoemaker and her husband Doug Stillwagon. Trica is preceded in death by a brother at birth, her brother Kevin Shoemaker, and her father L.R. Shoemaker. She will be greatly missed by her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Martin County Convent Foundation.
