Travis L. Haynie, 78, of Stanton, died on Saturday Sept. 11, 2010 in a Big Spring nursing home. Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday September 15, 2010, at the Evergreen Cemetery Chapel with Kendall Tomlinson, officiating.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday September 14, 2010, at Gilbreath Funeral Home, in Stanton.Travis Leggette Haynie was born January 29, 1932 in Stanton, Tx. Following high school, he entered the United States Army. During his service, he received the National Defense Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation. He returned to Stanton in 1954 and was honorably discharged from reserve service in 1960. He worked as the groundskeeper at Evergreen Cemetery until he retired.He was a very patriotic man who believed in flying the United States flag every day. He visited his friends downtown everyday and took candy to his "ladies" regularly. He was an avid domino player and played at the American Legion Hall until it closed, and then moved the game to the work room attached to the garage at his house.Survivors include a sister, Ermine Haynie Barrick, and husband Ed, of Ft. Worth; nephews, Travis W. Crow, wife, Cindy and family of Woolfforth, Paul McHenry, Howard Haynie, wife, April and family of Midland, Travis S. Haynie, wife, Debbie and family of Castle Rock, Colorado, John Haynie of Lomax; and niece, Vietia Romine, husband, Larry and family of Martin County.He was preceded in death by his parents, Travis W. and Margaret Haynie; one brother, Silliman E. Haynie and wife, Joan, and one neice, Margaret Haynie Adam.The family suggests memorials be made to the Martin County Senior Citizen Center, PO Box 1233, Stanton, Tx 79782, or Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home, 1809 N.
