Travis Wayne Kendrick, 74 of Midland passed away on February 8, 2023, shortly after celebrating his 74th birthday surrounded by family.
Travis was born on February 3, 1949 in Slaton, Texas to Gertrude and Mack Kendrick. He graduated from Slaton High School, lived and worked in Lubbock, as well as El Paso, before settling in Midland in the 1970’s. Travis was the service manager at Sloan Brothers Buick and taught automotive classes at Midland College for several years. For the past 30 plus years Travis worked with Jane and Robert Burton at Southwest Floors, where he was regarded as a family member rather than an employee. Travis had an unmatched work ethic, which was only rivalled by his capacity to enjoy life. He loved to work hard and play harder. Travis loved dancing, spending time with family and friends, and was an avid fan of all things automotive. He was an ardent NASCAR fan, and over the years attended NASCAR races in Talladega, Daytona, Texas Motor Speedway and numerous others in between. Travis always loved telling great stories and collecting good jokes. He is best remembered by friends and family as someone who could brighten any room and keep his company rolling in laughter.
In 1996 Travis met Debbie (Bell) Kendrick. They started dating in 1999 and were married in June of 2009.
Travis is survived by his wife, Debbie (Bell) Kendrick, daughters Tonda Moorhouse of Midland, Leatha & (Allen) Tampke of Utopia, Texas, and son Clayton Bell of Paint Rock; grandchildren, Saferen & (Nick) Fonfille of Van Buren, Arkansas, Tanner & (Sydney) Kendrick of Midland, Taylor Watson of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Colton Bell of Oceanside, CA., Reagan Tampke of Divine, TX, Bo Bell of New Orleans, LA, Emily Tampke of Divine, TX; 5 great grandchildren, nephews, Roy &(Yili) Kendrick, Stacy & (Windy) Kendrick, Bryan & (Libby) Kendrick, nieces Charla & (Scot) Coxwell, Amanda & (Rocky) Kendrick; 5 other nieces and nephews, 17 grandnieces and nephews, and 5 great grand nieces and nephews.
