Tony Lee Sanchez, 68 years of age from Midland, TX, passed away on Thursday June 13, 2024. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2024 with a rosary recited at 6:00pm at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Memorial service will follow the rosary at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel.
Tony Lee Sanchez was born on November 25, 1955 in El Paso, TX. He was raised by Nettie and Melvin Lofton of Hobbs, NM along with his two brothers, Mario and Roy Sanchez. He attended Hobbs High School and graduated in 1973, later moving to Midland, TX where he attended Midland College and received a degree in Business Management.
Tony met the love of his life, Maria (Lulu) Ontiveros-Sanchez in Midland, TX, and they later wed on April 8, 1978. They were married for 44 years until her untimely passing in 2022. Tony and Maria have three beautiful children together, whom were all born and raised in Midland, they have two sons Anthony and Michael Sanchez and one daughter Paula Sanchez-Garza.
He went on to work for T.R.W Reda Pump and ultimately retired with UPS after 23 years of service. He came out of retirement after a short year and went on to act as a Steward to a few private homes here in Midland.
Tony enjoyed many sports throughout his years, so much so that he went on to umpire and referee hundreds of High school and College games. Baseball was one of his absolute favorite sports. He enjoyed the game and loved coaching both of his son’s teams, just being alongside them.
Tony was a wonderful husband and father. He loved his family tremendously, just ask anyone of them. He never met a stranger; he knew you and was friends with you before you knew it yourself.
Tony Lee Sanchez is survived by son Anthony (T.J.) Sanchez and Nicole Sanchez of Midland, TX, son Michael (Eazy) Sanchez and Lydia Sanchez of Tyler, TX, daughter Paula Sanchez-Garza and Marc Garza of Midland, TX; 10 grandchildren, Marc, Nick, Steve and Kaitlyn Sanchez. Blaise and Easton Sanchez, Marc (Jr), Michael, Alex and Porcelain Garza, two sisters-in-law Mary Salinas and Elizabeth Lara, and mother-in-law Catalina Ontiveros.
He is preceded in death by wife Maria (Lulu) Sanchez, parents Melvin and Nettie Lofton, brothers Mario and Roy Sanchez, and sister-in-law Sandra Villarreal.
