Tony Jackson, of Big Spring, lost his battle at the age of 74 to colon cancer and entered the Kingdom of Heaven on July 27, 2024 in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by his wife and kids.
Tony was born May 25, 1950 in Mahopac, New York to John and Anna (Lieto) Jackson. He grew up in Brewster, New York, graduating from Brewster High School.
After graduation, Tony joined the United States Air Force. His final stint in the military had him stationed at Webb Air Force Base in Big Spring, Texas. He married Rhonda McKee, January 1973 in Big Spring and together they had their three children, Angie, Joey and Amy. Though their marriage didn’t continue they remained friends throughout his life.
He received an honorable discharge in 1973 from the Air Force and began his work in the oilfields of West Texas for the next 50 years starting out with Bob Wash, Forsan Oil Well Service in Forsan, Texas. He was a hard worker and had to be very ill to miss a day’s work.
He enjoyed his early years with his family, working, enjoying water sports, league bowling, watching football and family gatherings. He married Teresa Young-Talbott on May 9, 2008, in Big Spring and they combined their families.
His later years were spent working of course, enjoying time with his kids and watching his grandkids at their sporting events, which he took so much pride in their activities and achievements. He always tried to encourage their personal achievements by offering a little bonus for baskets or home runs.
Tony was proceeded in death by his parents, John and Anna Jackson. Grandparents Alexander and Helanta Jackson and Anthony and Lucy Lieto.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Jackson, of Big Spring, children, Angie (Chad) Williams, Joey (Paige) Jackson and Amy Jackson, all of Big Spring, Stephanie (Zach) Capehart of Lubbock, Texas, Jeremy (Melissa) Talbott of Midland, Texas and his sister, Margie (Bill) Wheeler of Walden, New York.
Grandchildren, Trevor, Hannah and K’Leigh Williams, Ricky Prater, Kole and Brodie Jackson, Bailey, Hunter and Sybil Capehart and Taelyn Crow.
The family will be receiving visitors Wednesday, July 31, 2024 from 6:00-8:00pm at Nalley Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Thursday, August 1st at 10:00am at Nalley Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.
