Thomas Oscar Midkiff, III, \T. O.\, 83, of Midkiff, Texas passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel in Midland.T.O. was born on August 7, 1934 to Hattie Mae and Thomas Oscar Midkiff, Junior in Midland, Texas. He attended Midland High School and Allen Military Academy in Bryan, Texas. He graduated from Schreiner Military Institute in Kerrville, Texas.After graduation from Schreiner Military Institute, he started working on the family ranch which is a registered Texas ranch for over 100 years. Early on he raised cattle and sheep on the ranch and in later years cleared land to include cotton farming. He married Carol Ann Leon in Midland, Texas on May 21, 1982. He loved being with family and being Poppy and Granddaddy to the grandkids.T.O. was funny, a hard worker and played hard too. He loved to travel to destinations that included Australia, South and Central America, he enjoyed fishing in Mexico, Big Bend and hunting in the Grand Canyon.He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Midkiff; her children; son, Al Callaway and wife Stomi; son, Ben Callaway and wife Cheryl; his children; daughter, Janice Durham and husband Gary; son, Steven Midkiff and wife Saundra; son, Thomas Oscar Midkiff, IV and wife Kristy; their mother Marilyn Midkiff; ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; and his siblings, Maydelle Jackson, Loyce Cole, Richard Midkiff and wife Shelia.He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Oscar Midkiff, Junior and Hattie Mae Midkiff and his sister, Hazel Calcote.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haley Memorial Museum and Research Library at 1805 W. Indiana Ave., Midland, Texas 79701; Show of Support at 2002 W.
