Tanya Lynn Gentry

Tanya Lynn Gentry, 66, of Midland, passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 11:00AM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel.

Tanya was born on May 6, 1955 to Ida and Eddie Hunt in Midland, TX. She graduated high school from Midland High, in 1974, she went on to further her education at Texas Tech in Lubbock Texas she graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree Cum Laude in Mass communication. She went on to UTPB where she worked on her Master’s Degree.
She worked at Pac Tel communication for many years while working on her degree she worked at Midland Reporter Telegram as a freelance writer. Tanya worked as a Teacher in Odessa. And in later years she worked as a substitute teacher extensively at Lee Freshman and at Pease Elementary. Her main hobbies were traveling (Hawaii, Paris, and Alaska) and many other places, and going to church.

Tanya was loved by many and was always a giver of her time and money.

She is survived by her 3 Sisters Ida Dorn, Rita Young and Eddie M. Young and 2 very dear
cousins that she considered a sister Barbara Johnson and twin brother Bobby Johnson.

She is preceded in death by her Mother Ida Belle Gentry, father Eddie Hunt, 2 sisters Lillie Ann Hill and Ernestine (Tina) Rankin and a brother J.T. Hunt.

Honorary pallbearers will be Rashad Anders, Malcolm Anders, Donavon Anders, Langston Anders, Sterling Young III and Anthony Johnson.
