Steve “Stingray” Carter, 64 of Midland, Texas passed away on October 26, 2021. A visitation will be from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 29th at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home, 3800 N. Big Spring Street. Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday October 30th at Resthaven Memorial Park, 4616 N. Big Spring Street.
Steve was born March 1, 1957, in Crane, TX to Joe Bill Carter and Betty (Carter) Chambliss. Steve was an Air Force brat, graduated high school in Honolulu, Hawaii till his family finally settled in Midland, Texas in 1974. Steve joined the Midland Fire Department in 1984 and served for 29 years as a driver. He was also a semi-pro and religious golf enthusiast.
Steve is survived by mother Betty (Carter) Chambliss, son Nicholas Carter and wife Elizabeth of Keller, Texas with their three boys, Remington, Sterling and Merritt; daughter Jennifer Gandar of Midland, Texas and her two boys, Kaleb and Payton; daughter Brandy Bragg of Oceanside, CA. Also survived by brothers Stan Carter wife Laura, Stuart Carter wife Sharon, along with many nieces and nephews and his side kick Buddy.
Steve is preceded in death by father Joe Bill Carter, grandmother Dorothy Hunt and Uncle Bill Hunt.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards Midland Memorial staff and the Midland Fire Department family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals.
