Steven Malone Tipton, 45, was born in Memphis, Tennessee on September 30, 1960 to Dr. James Warren and Sara Jane Malone Tipton. The family moved to Big Spring, Texas when he was 3 months of age where he grew up and attended Big Spring schools, graduating with the Class of 1979. He was a Presbyterian and was an active member of Boys Scouts where he attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He enjoyed baseball and was a pitcher and catcher on his teams and played center in football. He attended Angelo State on a football scholarship and later also attended Texas Tech and Brookhaven Community College in Dallas.His life's work varied from health club management, consignment store management, trucking work and later oil related work.He is survived by a beloved son, Ty Malone Tipton of Lubbock; his parents; his sister, Diane Tipton Veirs and her daughter, Crystal Veirs and her son, John Veirs of Midland and a brother, James W. Tipton, Jr. and his daughter, Jessica Tipton and his son, James W. Tipton III (Trey) of Big Spring. He is also survived by his aunt, Barbara Baker of Milan, Tennessee and his uncles, Dr. King Tipton of Ft. Myers, Florida and Sam Malone of Clarksville, Tennessee.He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dr. Franklin J. and Frances Wheatley Malone of Clarksville, Tennessee and James and Hilda Patrick Tipton on Milan, Tennessee. Also his uncle, Dr. F. J. Malone, Jr. of Clarksville, Tennessee and his aunt, Mary Frances Rains of Jackson, Tennessee.He was a very kind and loving soul and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He passed away in Big Spring on Saturday, March 4, 2006. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 9, 2006 at Trinity Memorial Park in the Peace Chapel with the Rev. Matt Miles, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 8, 2006, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
