Sheryl Elizabeth Cowger

Sheryl (Cougie) Elizabeth Cowger, age 69, of Midland, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, June 10, from 6- 8 pm, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory.

Sheryl was born on December 16, 1954 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She was raised by her Mother, Helen Elizabeth Ruff Bates and Stepfather, Timothy Harold Bates. Her father was, Elton Wayne Cowger.

“Cougie” spent lots of time with her nephew Shannon, whom she considered a son, and his family. She worked as a Treasury Clerk for Endeavor Energy Resources for 17 years until the time of her death.

Sheryl is survived by her sisters Vicki L. Cargile (Terry Cargile) of Midland Texas, Patricia Knighton (Terry Knighton) of Flint Texas, and Shanna Bates of Odessa Texas. Her nephews Travis Cargile, Eric Knighton, Shannon Bates, James Bates, and her niece Becca Cramblit. She has 6 great nephews and 1 great niece.

Sheryl is preceded in death by her mother, Helen Elizabeth Ruff Bates, stepfather, Timothy Harold Bates and her father, Elton Wayne Cowger.
