Sheri Linda Rydell, 71, of Midland was called home to heaven on November 4, 2025.
Sheri was born on December 19, 1953 in Odessa, Texas to Glyndel Dane Williams and Carolyn Faith Williams. She attended Odessa High School. She moved to Midland in 1980 where she found Kelview Heights Baptist Church and began serving in children’s ministries. On April 9, 1983 she married Tim Rydell at Kelview and they began serving together in the 3-year-old Sunday School. In 1989 they became superintendents of the kindergarten class where they served together for the next 36 years. In those years, she faithfully and selflessly served in other ministries as well including AWANA, Adult Choir, Preschool Choir, MOPS, Easter Productions, Women’s Ministry and as a deacon’s wife.
In 1999 she helped establish the Grace Enrichment Co-Op, GECO for short, in Midland where she was heavily involved in many areas including the Home Economics class. She was passionate about a faith-based education not only for her two daughters, but also for future generations.
She loved spending time with family and creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere where there was always an abundance of food and laughter. Her greatest joy was being “MiMi” to her seven grandchildren, each of whom she cherished deeply, prayed for often and spoiled every chance she got.
She is preceded in death by her mother Carolyn Firebaugh, her brother Mike Williams and nephew Walter Smith. She is survived by her father, Glyndel Williams, husband, Tim Rydell, children, Jeffrey Jones (wife Evelyn), Katie Robinson (husband Ronny), Christy Gotwald (husband Allen), and seven grandchildren, Ashton Jones, Hunter and Cooper Robinson, Sam, Logan, Lucas and Skylar Gotwald, and one great-grandson Carter Jones. She is also survived by sisters, Dianne Smith (husband Willie) and Cindy Clark (husband Tom). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, one aunt, one uncle, cousins and friends.
The Family would like to express their gratitude to our church family and friends who have prayed for and supported them through this difficult time. A special thank you to Tanya Caufield and the staff at Encompass Health for their exemplary care.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kelview Heights Baptist Church missions fund.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30pm, Monday, November 10, 2025 at Kelview Heights Baptist Church.
Arrangements are made under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
