Sheila F. Abusaab, 77, of Big Spring, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025. She will lie in state Sunday, September 14, 2025 from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at 2:00 pm, at the Dorothy Garrett Coliseum in Big Spring, Texas.
Sheila was born January 5, 1948 to parents Roy Fisher and Hettie Ellen (Kordis) Fisher in Enid, Oklahoma. She married Mike Abusaab in 1982 in Oklahoma, and they relocated to Big Spring in 1985. They purchased the Sonic on Gregg Street and later years came to own multiple Sonics in several cities. Sheila was a proud member of DKG Society, Int’l, Beta Kappa Chapter, since November 1988. This organization works to empower women in education and leadership roles.
Sheila obtained her master’s degree and taught Spanish at Chisholm High School in Enid Oklahoma where she was also the Coach for the cheerleading squad. Sheila taught at Big Spring High School for many years before retiring. Sheila was honored with awards for Teacher of the year on 3 occasions; once in Oklahoma and twice in Texas. She recently received the award of Woman of the Year by the Big Spring Chamber of Commerce. Sheila and Mike loved and were very involved in their community, giving back in scholarships and donations and wherever else they could. Sheila loved spending time with her family and friends and always enjoyed a good laugh.
She is survived by her sister Judith Reynolds (Jack); nieces and nephews Kim Spikes (Cody), Julie K. Wilson, Joanna Reynolds, Matthew Fisher, Jennifer Raddatz, Adam Fisher, Dr. Lina Abusaab, Raya Abusaab, and Hemza Abusaab and brothers-in-law Mustafa Abusaab (Mimi), Khalil Abusaab (Zakia) and numerous cousins, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Roy Fisher and Hettie Ellen (Kordis) Fisher, she was preceded in death by her husband Mahmud “Mike” Abusaab, sister Coy Ann McGee and brother Doug Fisher.
