Sandra Self Dragisic

Sandra Self Dragisic, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, August 31^st in Plano, TX.  She was born on November 3, 1949 to Charlotte and Gerald Self in Lubbock, TX.  After graduating from SMU she embarked on a teaching career that spanned 24 years the majority of which was spent at Hillander School and from where she ultimately retired.  After retirement she donated her time and energy to several charitable organizations with the one closest to her heart being the Rape Crisis Center of Midland, TX where she spent countless hours assisting and counseling children with her beloved therapy dog, Corgi.  When she was not volunteering or inventing reasons to host parties in Midland, she loved being at their home on lake LBJ with her friends and family.  At the lake she could be found sitting on the back deck where she enjoyed visiting with everyone and on the boat where she could be heard “gently” reminding those learning water sports that it was hot while also “encouraging” them to learn at a much faster pace than what she was witnessing.  Sandra was always open and welcoming to friends and family, loved having company and entertaining, never met a stranger, was always willing to help those in a time of need and was never at a loss for words…. or opinions!

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents Charlotte and Gerald Self and her uncle, Roy Kimsey.  She is survived by her husband, John “Arthur” Dragisic of Midland, TX; son Kirk French of Fort Worth, TX, his wife Charlotte and their son Philip; son Brandon Dragisic of Allen, TX, his wife Cindy and their son Spencer; sister Nancy Self Dacy of Austin, TX; brother Danny Self of Marathon, TX and numerous nieces, nephews and their children.

There will be a private family interment at Resthaven Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life held on Friday, September 23, 2022 at the Petroleum Club beginning at noon.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be given to the Rape Crisis Center of Midland, TX or a personal charity of each family’s choosing.
