Ryder Wayne Gass, 16 of Garden City, gained his wings to Heaven on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Ryder was born in Abilene on May 5, 2005 to Quentin and Roni Gass. Ryder was a junior at Garden City High School, where he was an active member of the National Honor Society, FFA, 4-H, Student Council, and athletics. He was passionate about hunting, cowboying, fishing, showing animals, basketball, and golf. Ryder had a love for people. He loved hanging out with his family and friends, especially if it involved being outdoors. He was the best son, brother, grandson, cousin, and friend that anyone could ask for. Ryder never met a stranger and had a smile that would light up a room. Those who knew him will also remember his larger-than-life spirit and even though he was small in stature, it was well-known that he believed he was the biggest kid on campus. His confidence couldn’t be ignored and inspired the entire GC student body and staff.
Ryder was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Garden City where he was saved and baptized at the age of 10.
He is survived by his parents, Quentin and Roni Gass, his sister Jaedon Gass and her fiance’, Sutton Hurst, his brothers Bronc and Roper Gass, his grandparents, Poncho and Leisa Morrow of Knox City, Patricia Edenfield of Dickens, Butch and Shawna Gass of Gail. Ryder is also loved by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition, he leaves behind a huge host of friends who will miss him just as much and will remember his kind heart, quick wit, and ornery attitude.
Pallbearers will be Gage Morrow, Owen Seidenberger, Mason Walker, Jordan Jones, Blain Walts, Kamdyn Roe, John Lopez, Logan Seidenberger, and Brock Braden. Honorary pallbearers will be two special seniors, the graduating class of 2023, and the Bearkat basketball team.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring. A funeral service will be at 2:00 pm, Monday, January 10, 2022 at the Garden City High School Gymnasium with Danny Whitehead officiating.
