Crow, Ruth May Owens, 84, of Luther, died on Saturday, July 29, 2000, in a Lubbock nursing home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 3, 2000, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Dwayne Wheat, pastor of Berea Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. She was born on May 9, 1916 in Red Oak, Texas and married O. R. Crow on November 25, 1933 in Waxahachie, Texas. He preceded her in death on December 30, 1994. She lived in Luther for 58 years where her husband farmed. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and being outdoors. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Luther where she taught sunday school and vacation bible school. Mrs. Crow was honored by President Harry S. Truman for her work with the American Red Cross during World War II. She also served as a 4-H and Girl Scout leader. Survivors include a son, William J. Crow of Cypress; two daughters, Connie J. Anderson of Lubbock and Sandra R. Crow of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; two brothers, Van E. Owens of Big Spring and Dalton Wells of Lubbock; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
