Ronny Dale Smith passed away peacefully on March 31st, 2017 in Midland, Texas. He was 75 years of age. He was born November 23rd, 1941 in Dublin, TX to Atlas and Dixie Smith and graduated from Midland High School in 1960. He served two tours in Vietnam with the Army, and was honorably discharged in 1973. Ronny was an entrepreneur who owned and operated several businesses including: Smith Music Company, West Texas Wheels, and A-1 Bail Bonds.He was preceded in death by his parents, Dixie and Atlas Smith, his brother Don Tex Smith, and his daughter Kim Howard. He is survived by his wife, Ellis Leonard Smith, the love of his life for 43 years; children Ronny Dale Smith II and wife Kasey, Kevin Smith, and Casey Smith Goree and husband Tyler; grandchildren Hilary Howard Nixon and husband Mike, Cameron Howard and wife Lindzee, and Ryan Smith, and great-grandson John Clark Howard; and numerous nieces and nephews.Ronny will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving husband, supportive father, and dear friend. His loyalty, immeasurable kindness, and boundless generosity touched the lives of many throughout his lifetime. He had a zest for life that was contagious, as witnessed in his favorite past-times with family and friends. Whether he was taking long road trips, playing golf, watching TCU football with his sons, or doting on his daughter and wife, he had an abundant appreciation for life. Ronny’s adventures and sense of humor made him an engaging story-teller whose laughter could light up a room. His devotion, charitable nature, spirited stories, infectious laughter, and loving memories will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to call him family and friend.Honoring Ronny as pallbearers will be Dwaine Smith, Derel Smith, Don “D.K.” Jones, Bill Carter, Stuart Atnipp, Tyler Nobles, Howard Flowers, and Bobby Avent.The family will receive friends on Tuesday April 4, 2017 from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 11:00 am at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel in Midland.
