Ronald Dreisbach West, 79, of Big Spring Texas, peacefully passed away on December 27, 2022 surrounded by his family. A family gathering will be held in Big Spring at a later date.
Ron was born December 18, 1943, in Houston, Texas to Herbert G. West and Evelyn Salome. After losing his father at a very young age, he quickly became the man of the house. Always working and providing for his grandma, his mom, and his sister. He was a graduate of Smiley High School, in Houston, Texas. Ron met and married his perfect match, Rosanne Terry, while working at Warren Mechanical Contractors. After their first date to a wrestling match, Rosie was hooked and they spent a wonderful life together. This coming March, they would have been married 53 years. Ron spent most of his career as a licensed Plumber, running West Plumbing Company and residing in Pearland, Texas. He worked hard his entire life. He was loyal, trustworthy, and dependable. Upon his retirement, they relocated to Livingston, Texas in 2007 to escape the big city rush and enjoy a slower pace. Then in 2020, Ron and Rose relocated to Big Spring, Texas to be near his “two favorite daughters.”
Ron truly had a zest for life and loved to have a good time! Anywhere he was, you could be sure that laughter would be heard, and fun would be had, even in the midst of working! Family game nights were always tons of fun and he was sure to bring bantering and laughter. He was a people person and had many friends. He loved to go visiting, throw washers or horseshoes, play a good card game and cook a good brisket. Due to his health challenges over the past several years, he missed the enjoyment of friends and social gatherings. However, he spoke often of the good times. Some of his most favorite memories that he spoke of included his involvement with his girls during their Pearland High School Band days. From football games to marching contests to carwash fundraisers, he was in the middle of it all! He would flip burgers to feed the kids, move instruments, or help with anything that needed to be done. Everyone loved Mr. West! He was a hoot and could be seen dancing to the band’s stand tunes on any Friday night! Over the years, Ron also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being involved in the Pearland Lions Club.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mary Hobbs.
Ron is survived by his wife Rosanne Terry West; 2 daughters, Ronda Turnbough and husband Brian, and Becky Woodall and husband Matt; Six grandchildren: Jonas, Aaron, and Audrey Turnbough and Kaeli, Colt, and Maggie Woodall, all of Big Spring, Texas; Ron is also survived by numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and many friends that he considered family.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this time.
