Ronald Charles St.John entered Heaven March 14, 2021 @ 11:11p.m. surrounded by his loving family. He was a great man with a big heart.
Ron was born June 24, 1957 in Anchorage, Alaska to Donald Richard St.John and Annabelle (Simmons) St.John.
Ron was raised in Clovis, New Mexico and attended Clovis schools. As a young boy he played little league baseball, football and boxing however, Ron would tell you his boxing career was 2 matches after the second match he retired. He was a very adventurous person who loved to work with animals and took up Rodeoing where he rode bulls and worked with horses. One of Ron’s many adventures was a jockey at a racetrack in Arizona. He and his entrepreneur friends traveled several states selling jewelry. Ron went on to work in the Quad Cities for J.I. Case as a welder and eventually transferred to Tenaco Oil in Midland, Texas where he was introduced to the oilfields of West Texas. Ron had many endeavors in the oilfield from owner/operator of wells, he had his own pumping company and at one point Sky Oilfield Services where he refurbished oil field equipment. He later started Vision Stone Petroleum where he took on a partner and they acquired a few oil & gas leases which contained several work-over wells located throughout Texas. Ron loved his children immensely and was enormously proud of them. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and his beloved dog – Blew.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Richard St.John and Annabelle (Simmons) St.John, stepfather Curtis Hendricks, maternal grandparents OW & Ruth Simmons, paternal grandparents Richard & Mildred St.John. Aunts – June Stevenson, Ginger Stevenson, JoAnn Moore, Charlene St.John and Virginia Webb. Uncles – David St.John, Delano Simmons and Charlie Simmons. Cousins – Eddie Ray Moore and Deanna Moore and grandson Aiden Matthew Velasquez.
Ron is survived by the love of his life of 28 years Lisa St.John, daughter Jessica Kaemmerling (Matt) of Austin, TX, Skyler St.John of Oklahoma City, OK, stepson Christopher Velasquez of Odessa, TX, and stepdaughter Tiffany Stalnaker (Eric) of Oklahoma City, OK, from a previous marriage; brothers Mike St.John (Vicki) of Midland, TX, Rick Hendricks (Sally) of Sheridan, WY, and Lisa Merrick (Eldon) of Portales, NM; Uncle – Randy Simmons (Jyl) of Mesa AZ, and Aunt Debbie Dayhoff (Mark) of Clovis, NM; nieces and nephews include Shannon Tomlin, Blaine St.John, Kendra Mize, Kelli Merrick, Rusty Hendricks, Kelci Adsit and Kirsten Hendricks; grandchildren – Hunter Adam Velasquez, Kaiden Chad Velasquez and Addison Lenora Velasquez. Ron is also survived by many cousins.
Funeral Service will be March 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel, Midland, TX. Burial will follow March 27, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis, NM.
The family would like to thank Hospice for the love and care they gave Ron during his illness.
