Roe Smith Sams passed away Sunday, February 16, 2025, in Midland, Texas at the age of 68.
Roe was born on October 9th, 1956, in Midland, Texas to Perkins and Bradley Sams. He attended Trinity School of Midland, Midland College and graduated from the University of Texas with a BA in Petroleum Land Management. He lived in various places including San Antonio, Tyler, Fort Worth, East Texas, Arkansas and Santa Fe, New Mexico before settling back in Midland for a career as an independent contract Landman.
Roe was an avid hunter and fisherman. He hunted deer and elk in the Rockies where he also applied, as often as possible, his considerable expertise as a fly fisherman for trout. He loved Taylor River and Tincup, Colorado. He also treasured his annual dove, duck and deer hunting in Texas. Roe also was an avid cook and enjoyed shopping and planning his next preparation including the game and fish he harvested.
Roe was preceded in death by his mother and father, Perkins and Bradley Sams. his sister Elizabeth Sams and nephew John Perkins Foretich.
He is survived by his wife Terri Sams of Midland, Texas, son Jason Roe Williamson and wife Aileen Bohol Williamson, daughter Lauren Sams Hand and wife Jordan Hand, daughter Brooke Sams and husband Jacob Robert Neil Blew, his grandchildren Maddox Roeland Williamson, Adahy Rowan Blew, Parker Benelli Blew, Malachi Jacob Blew, Harper Remington Blew, his brother and his wife Lourcey and Lisa Sams of Midland, Texas, and his sister Sarah Sams of Melbourne Beach, Florida, and three nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials to Trinity School of Midland, 3500 W. Wadley, Midland, Texas 79707 or the Heart Institute at Midland Memorial hospital.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday February 22, 2025 at 3:00pm at Resthaven Cemetery.
