Robert Thomas (Tom) Sherman, 84, of Midland, Texas, passed away on November 10th, 2022. The family will be receiving visitors Tuesday, November 15th, 2022, from 1PM to 3PM at their family home.
Tom was born on January 10th, 1938, in Sentinel, OK to Orvil and Gladys Sherman.
Tom was a storyteller, often laughing so hard he couldn’t finish telling the story, routinely made-up nonsensical words, and sang silly songs to his kids and grandkids. Ever with a twinkle in his eye, you could count on some good-natured sarcasm directed at all those he cared about.
After spending 40+ years as the Regional Equipment Manager for the Western Company, Tom formed Sherman Tractor Sales, was a tough deal maker, and a mechanical wizard. Even at age 84, his strong handshake would bring you to your knees. His daughters would describe him as their protector.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Billie Whitehead Sherman; his brother Ron Sherman of Grand Junction, CO; his two adoring daughters, Lezlye Ann Ware, of Midland, and Laura Sherman Mellencamp of Grapevine; his son, Robert T. Sherman, Jr of Houston; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards their many friends and family members. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Mexico Christian Children’s Home
