Robert R. Wallace (Robb), 59, passed from this life into the eternal joy of heaven on Monday, February 1, 2021 following a 9 year courageous battle with metastatic cancer.
Robb was born January 28, 1962 in Los Angeles, CA, the third of 9 children. His love for adventure started at an early age exploring the beach with his siblings. Robb received his schooling in California and was a standout athlete. He excelled in track and loved playing basketball and surfing. Bodybuilding, weightlifting, and staying fit were an essential part of his life.
At age 33, Robb moved to Midland, Texas where he made his home and worked in sales before entering the oil and gas industry. He proudly became a CDL operator with a Hazmat endorsement. Known as “Big Robb” to his coworkers, with his beautiful smile, he never met a stranger and made friends everywhere he went. A generous man, he never interacted empty-handed and brought many a box of donuts, candy and gum, even cold water and Powerade wherever he went. He had a heart for those in need and was known to provide money, food, diapers, fuel, car batteries, even a refrigerator to help out when he could. It was said he was a friend you could count on. Hardworking and meticulous, he left everything cleaner and more organized than he found it. Robb left his mark everywhere he went, not just with his influence, but because he had put a printed label on it!
Fun-loving, brilliant, and funny, Robb was a great story teller. He loved to make people laugh and feel at ease. As an encourager, he spoke positivity and faith and was complimentary, often writing letters to companies and organizations to highlight some deserving individual(s). He was widely known for his elegant handwriting. A natural born teacher, Robb had written one book and was working on several more.
He loved picture taking and many different genres of music and had an extensive collection of both. He enjoyed watching sports, and was very knowledgeable in that field. A sharp dresser, Robb loved fine clothes. He enjoyed good food and travelling with his wife. One of his accomplished dreams was to own and ride his own Harley-Davidson Fat Boy. He handsomely sported all the gear and clothes to go with it.
As a strong leader, Robb’s primary focus in life was for the well-being of his children and grandchildren and for them to know the Lord Jesus Christ. He wanted them to know his unending love for them, expressing it through action, by teaching and giving gifts. He loved his siblings and felt it was his duty to look after some of the younger ones.
Most of all, Robb loved God and the Word of God. He was quick to pray for people and often shared scripture on beautifully handwritten index cards. He (with his wife, Jody) was active in jail and prison ministry for 14 years. He was gifted in the ministry of reaching the unchurched with the love of God. In many ways, God used Robb to be a light to those he came across.
“Do not let your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.” John 14:1-4
Robb was preceded in death by his parents, Martha Nell and Murrell Robinson and sisters, Kelly and Keisha.
Robb will be forever loved by his wife of almost 16 years, Jody, and children; Cherise, Camille, Miles, Olivia, Evan and Joy. He treasured his grandchildren, Camden Caytee and Wade Detroit. Also left to celebrate his life are his sister, Glynis (Bob), and brothers; Roland (Nadine), Kirby, Ernest, Arnold Keith, Todd (Karen) and Kevin and numerous relatives. Cremation has taken place and no formal services are planned. In lieu of flowers or memorial donations, Robb would want everyone to BE KIND, BE GENEROUS and BE FORGIVING.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all of the staff of Texas Oncology-Odessa West Texas Cancer Center and Hospice of Midland for their wonderful loving support and care.
When tomorrow starts without me,
don’t think we’re far apart
For every time you think of me
I’m right there in your heart.
