Robert “Bobby” Phillips, 68, Bakersfield, California, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday October 12, 2018 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.Bobby was born on September 15, 1950 in Ashdown, Arkansas to Dorothy and Clyde Phillips. He was married to the love of his life Nancy Strom Phillips. He began his career in the oil and gas industry when he was 19 following the footsteps of his father and uncles. He was a mud engineer for Profco for many years and then started his own company prior to retirement. He had a childhood dream of living in California and was able to fulfill that and lived there most of his adult life. He was also an art enthusiast and a hippy at heart. He enjoyed sitting and visiting with people, traveling to new places, listening to music and watching movies.He is survived by his sister Sharon Pierson and her husband Ray, sister Sandy Miles and her husband George; Greg and Alice Hardy; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.He is preceded in death by his wife Nancy Phillips; parents Clyde and Dorothy Phillips; and sister, Bonita Phillips.Pallbearers will be Tyler Miles, George Miles, Ray Pierson, Chad Carson, Eric Neatherlin, Caden Carson, Justin Bostic, and Hunter Gilbert.In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be donated to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue Dallas, Texas 75231, or the American Cancer Society, Atlanta, Georgia.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
