Robert Eugene Payne

Robert Eugene Payne, 78, of Midland, passed away on Saturday, March, 22, 2025. A viewing will begin at 8:00 AM on Wednesday March 26, 2025, and will conclude at 5:00 PM. A graveside service and interment will be the following day on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Erik Stadler from Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Midland, will be officiating. A private reception will follow at the Payne residence.

Robert was born on December 6, 1946, in El Dorado, Kansas, to parents Robert Millard Payne and Marjorie Olive King. He later moved to Electra, Texas, where he attended Electra High School. He was a proud member of the United States military, serving in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He married Marilyn Lee Smith on February 14, 1976. They settled in Midland, Texas to raise their family. He retired from Tuboscope Varco in 2010. He loved grilling outdoors, working on his yard, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marjorie Payne; and his daughter, Natalee Marie Dean.

Robert is survived by his wife, Marilyn Lee Payne, of Midland; his son Corey Lee Payne, of Garland, Tx; his daughter Carrie Ann McConnell, of Little Elm, Tx, and his two grandchildren Elijah and Skylar; his daughter Jennifer Lee Payne, of Midland, and his five grandchildren, Alyssa, Gavin, Tristan, the children of his late daughter, Emma and Caleb; his sister Janet Lasseter of Hartselle, AL; as well as three nieces, and several great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice of Midland and would welcome any memorial donations for their services.
