Chaney, Robert Charles, 74, of Big Spring, died on Monday, September 11, 2000, in a local hospital. Graveside funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 13, 2000, at the Loraine Cemetery, Loraine, Texas, with Rev. Roger Huff, pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene, officiating. He was born on July 20, 1926 in Ft. Worth, Texas and married Mary Jo Chandler on May 23, 1979 in Stanton, Texas. Robert came to Big Spring in 1958 from Midland. He was a watchmaker for fifty years and owned and operated Chaney's Jewelry in Big Spring until his partial retirement in 1988. He was a Baptist. He had served in the United States Army during World War II and was awarded the purple heart. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Chaney of Big Spring; four sons, Chris Chaney, Keith Chaney and Joe Chaney all of Big Spring and Bobby Stark of Odessa; one step-daughter, Debra Cummings of Dallas; two brothers, Stacey Chaney of Carlsbad, New Mexico and Earnest Chaney of Lubbock; one sister, Lois Briles of Amarillo and 7 grandchildren.
