We bid farewell to Robert “Bob” Miller who passed from this life on October 4, 2024. Bobby, who was affectionately known as Tootie, was born on August 27, 1942 in San Antonio Texas to Robert Newell Miller and Evelyn Bertha Miller. Tootie and Debbie moved to Eastland Texas in 2014 and he was 82 years old at his passing. A memorial service will be held for Bob at 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel.
Tootie was employed by the Midland Police Department in November of 1967 and retired from the department as the Sgt. of the Midland Police Department Firearms Range in May of 1993. Prior to joining the police department Tootie had many work experiences in life including delivering ice, working as a welder and after high school he even entertained the idea of joining the seminary. One of his passions was firearms and he became a renowned expert on all things to do with firearms. He was the owner and gunsmith of Action Sports of Texas and people from all over the state called him to purchase guns and brought him their weapons for repair. He was a lifetime member of the Single Action Shooting Society and the NRA and was an avid firearms enthusiast which included participating in competition shooting events. He even was asked to go to Australia to teach a firearms class there for a police group. He loved motorcycle riding, hiking, fishing and cooking. He loved to cook and was always in the kitchen whipping up one tasty dish after another. Along with that, he enjoyed an occasional good cigar, a glass of good wine or a drink of blended Scotch Whiskey. He loved his Springer Spaniel, also named Tootie and his Boston Terriers. As many of you know, he was a big practical joker and loved surprising people.
He is survived by his wife Debbie Miller of 20 years, his son Robert (Rob) Miller Jr. and his wife Holly, his sister, Sonnie Raffety and husband Carl, his sister, Shirley Nelson, 3 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother Adele Miller and his sisters Karen and Darlene.
He was an interesting man that many called their friend. We ask that you remember him and the good times you had and to celebrate his life and memory.
