Ricki Glenn Hill (Rick), 69, of Midland, Texas passed away on April 27, 2023. His family and friends are deeply saddened that he lost his fifth battle with cancer. Funeral service will be held at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 12:00PM. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
Rick was born August 31, 1953, in Bowie, Texas to Aubrey Edwin Hill (Hill) and Esta Olene Sims. After his parents divorced, he was raised by his father and stepmother: Mary Ann Hill. Rick attended Lewisville High where he lettered in basketball for the Fighting Farmers. After graduation, he worked with his father in the trucking business until making a career move to Kilpatrick and Carter. His electric motor sales career moved him to Odessa, Texas around 1980. He retired from Kilpatrick and Carter 37 years later.
In 1982, he met Sabrina, and later, her two daughters: Shannon and Dawn. Sabrina and Rick were married on July 8, 1988, joining the four together as a family. On January 12, 1990, Rick and Sabrina welcomed a son, Aubrey Wayne Hill, to the family.
Many have described Rick as fun, life-loving, and kind. He spent his life enjoying hobbies such as organized outdoor Indian Guide camping where Rick was fondly named ‘Limping Deer’ and A. W. named ‘Leaping Deer’. A.W. fondly remembers their father-son motto: Pals forever! He enjoyed annual summer tube floats with friends/family dubbed the “Guadalupe River Rat Rodeo Club”, played league softball, as well as playing games of all kinds: Monopoly, dominos, poker, etc. ALL explicitly by the rules. Besides his love of family and fun, Rick’s greatest achievements were maintaining his sobriety for the last 5 years and remaining an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
Rick is survived by his wife of 34 years: Sabrina, step-mother: Mary Hill, brothers: Bran Newsome and Aubrey Hill, children: Shannon and spouse C. Brent Kennedy, Dawn and spouse Eric Bopes, and son Aubrey Hill, grandchildren: Brittany and Brianna Wooten, C. Brennon and Sutton Kennedy, Vivian and Blythe Hill; great grand-children: Grey, Paisley, and Reighley.
He is preceded in death by his father A.E. Hill, mother Esta Sims, and brothers: (from oldest to youngest): Ronnie Brown, Wayne Brown, Danny Hill, and Jimmy Hill.
