Richard E. (Rick) Mundy, 56, of Midland, Texas went home to be with our Lord and Savior on May 19, 2014. Rick was born on November 28, 1957 in Providence, RI to Furman (Bob) and Margaret Mundy. As a part of a military family, Rick lived in various cities and states before moving to Midland in 1972. He attended and graduated from Midland High School in 1976. He worked for Sundown Market in Midland for almost 20 years. He was also employed for several memorable years with Bob Evans in Houston. Rick was currently employed with Derrick Equipment in Odessa, TX.Rick loved being out on the open road riding his Harley and seeing the sights. His wife, Kathy, was his best friend and the love of his life for 24 years. She was always right there beside him on the motorcycle or relaxing together on the water. Rick was a great husband and an amazing father. He always said that his two biggest accomplishments were his children. He was sincerely adored by his two granddaughters, and was known as the funny and crazy Pa. His sisters thought he was the best brother ever, and he truly impacted the lives of everyone he met.Rick is preceded in death by his parents Bob and Margaret Mundy, brother, Rob Mundy, and nephew Justin Hamilton. Rick is survived by his loving wife, Mary Kathryn (Kathy) Mundy, his daughter Kristy Lee Mundy of Aurora, CO, and his son Harrison, “H-Man”, Mundy, daughter-in-law Christy Mundy and by his two beautiful granddaughters, Summer and Skylar Mundy of San Angelo, TX. He has three sisters: Suzanne Mundy, Lori Hamilton-Smith and husband Frank (Bud) Smith, Patricia Mundy-Nguyen and husband Minh Nguyen all of Midland. His mother-in-law Mary Bell, sister-in-law Mindy Braden and husband Dwayne, brother-in-law Kenneth Bell and wife Amanda all of Midland, TX and brother-in-law Keith Foxx and wife Tiffani of Belton, TX. He had numerous nieces and nephews that loved him, Michael Hamilton, Mai Mundy-Nguyen, Seyarra Mundy-Nguyen, and fiancé Chris Shynn of Irvine, CA, Emily Hamilton, Danne’ Braden, Jordan Bell, Hailey Bell, Nathan Bell, Jacob Bell, and Hannah Bell all of Midland, TX, Marne’ Barclay and husband Andy of The Colony, TX, Maizie Mahlstedt, Madilyn Mahlstedt, Gracie Foxx, and Hudson Foxx of Belton, TX, great nephew Brock Hamilton of Midland, TX and Michael Shynn of Irvine, CA. The family asks in lieu of flowers that memorials be given to the Lone Star Sanctuary in Midland, Texas where he and his wife Kathy adopted their third baby, Jax, who loved lying next to her daddy in his recliner. The family will receive friends for visitation at Nelley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland on Tuesday, May 27 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Services will be held on Wednesday, May 28 at 1:00pm in the Chapel at Nelley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home with a graveside service at Resthaven Memorial Cemetery to follow.,
