Richard E. Dick? Scott passed away peacefully October 31, 2006 while in the Midland Hospice Inpatient Unit after a short illness.Dick was born June 26, 1933 in Cheyenne Wyoming. After his high school graduation he joined the Navy in 1952 and was honorably discharged in 1956 as a Petty Officer Second Class.In 1957 Dick married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Morlang, and on October 26, 2006 they celebrated 49 years together.Dick attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie, and graduated in 1963 with high honors and was 10th in his class in the College of Business & Industry. He majored in Statistics and graduated with the highest GPA in that class. Dick was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.After graduating from college, Dick worked for the US Census Bureau in Maryland for a brief time. He then worked for 17 years at the National Education Association in Washington, D.C. as a Chief Statistician. In 1980 he accepted a position with Santa Fe Energy Resources (now Devon Energy) and he and his family relocated to Amarillo, TX. He retired from Devon Energy in 1995 in Midland, TX. After retirement, Dick loved his work with RSVP and all the great people.To love and cherish his memory, Dick leaves his wife, Barbara, daughter Tanya of Round Rock, TX, son Michael, his wife Vicki, and their two children Cory and Kelly of Mooresville, NC, brother Bill of Newton, NJ, sister-in-law Patti of Denver, CO, mother-in-law Helen Morlang of Midland, step son Rob Vizina and step granddaughter Megan of New York, NY, and numerous nieces and nephews.Dick requested no services but there will be a visitation for the family at 10:00 AM Friday, November 3rd at Nalley-Pickle & Welch 3800 N.
