So many memories I have of my time playing ball include Dick, Roger and Bill. I played in the American Little League and always played against Bill in the city tournament. We played ball together in High School and summer league on the Kiwanis. As has been stated, Bill always kept plowing away and didn't get down on his teammates if things weren't going well. We had so many good and fun conversations as we ran laps together. He was always such a great guy to be around. My prayers and thoughts go out to you all.

My sincere condolences to the Battle family. My memories of Dick go all the way back to little league when we played on the Duncan Drillers, coached by his dad Bill and Huck Doe. Our lives continued to intersect because of school and sports. Dick never had a bad word to say about anyone. It truly shook me to my core to hear of his passing. The last time I saw him was at our 10th class reunion. We laughed and had a good time remembering the good ole days. Bill, Roger, and the rest of family my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Our prayers are with you, the family of Dick Battle. I haven't seen Dick since I left Big Spring in 1975. I do remember him and his excellent abilities on the baseball field. I envied his even tempered - nothing ever seemed alter his positive attitude. Although we haven't talked or seen each other in several years, I will forever remember him and his God sent influence. Family, look to the hills for where your help comes from-your help come from the Lord. Your friend, your brother in Christ, Lawrence Byrd

Dear Vicki and LaNae, I wish I could be there in person to give you hugs and share in your grief. My thoughts and love are with you. Knowing Dick and having the privilege of working closely with him has made me a better person. I am so blessed to have Dick as my friend! He dealt with all the adversity of recent years with such a positive attitude! In fact, I usually had to drag all of the details out of him because he didn't want to complain! I am going to miss his booming voice and wonderful laugh here on earth, but I know I will see him again in Heaven. I am far away in miles, but close in spirit. Much love, Arwen Blankinship
