Reta May Spradling, 92, of Big Spring, died Monday, October 20, 2014 in a Midland hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, October 24, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church of Big Spring with Rev. Bill Ivins, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt Olive Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.Reta was born July 16, 1922 in Yowell, Texas and married Orville Spradling June 3, 1944 at Camp Rucker in Coffee County, Alabama.She earned her Bachelor's degree from McMurry University where she was the first female Student Body President. She was also the Campus Queen that year and President of the Kappa Phi sorority. She worked for St. Paul's Methodist Church in Abilene and then St. John's Methodist Church in Lubbock in their Religious Education departments. Her husband's job allowed her to travel extensively. She has visited all 50 states. After her father's passing, she provided the day to day management responsibilities for the Bigony Farms. She loved her Lord, her family and her Garden Club.She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Big Spring.Reta is survived by her husband, Orville Spradling of Big Spring; one son, Michael Spradling of Santa Fe, NM; one daughter-in-law, Chong Suk Spradling of Henderson, NV; one granddaughter, Angie Spradling; two grandsons, Ryan Patton Spradling and Dr. Robin Patrick Spradling; one brother, Weldon Bigony of Waco; two sisters, Myra Pierson of Flower Mound, and Mary Ella Cherry of Estero, FL.She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorsey Francis and Bessie May (McClanahan) Bigony; one son, William Orville \Rusty\ Spradling, Jr.; and two sisters, Frances Shepherd and Dorothy Francelle.The family suggests memorials be made to charity of the donor's choice.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
