Rebecca “Becky” Ortiz, 71, was born April 18, 1945 to Cleo and Ruth Brown. She passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. A memorial service will be held at Fairmont Park Church of Christ on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 10:00 am with her nephew, Darrell Rhea, officiating.Becky met and married Joe Ortiz in Mineral Wells, Texas. They have 4 children and 11 grandchildren: daughter, Tonya and Ron Eckert, and their children, Lindsey and Lauren; daughter, Susanne Ortiz and her children, Dionne, Geoffrey, and Garyt; son, James Ortiz and Katie, and their children, Joseph, Kimberly, and Jonathan; and son, John Mark Ortiz and Tiffany, and their children, Jackson, Naya and Henry.Becky worked at Midland Christian School for many years supervising the cafeteria. She loved feeding the children and after retirement continued to have past students stop her to talk about how good lunch was. She also worked many years with the Midland Cubs and Angels baseball teams in the ticket office. She enjoyed talking to the players and the public.Becky’s main priority was being a mom, a “sweetie” to her grandchildren and wife. She loved family and always kept up with nieces and nephews. She lived a life of faith and daily instilled the love of Jesus to her family and those around her. Through struggles, she always turned to her faith in God to see her through. She had a very deep love for her grandchildren.Becky is survived by her children; her sister, Patsy Woods; her mother-in-law, Erlinda Ortiz; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Nicki Presser, Dorothy Hall, Tony, Bernard, Johnny, and Albert Ortiz. Becky is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Ortiz, her mother and father, Ruth and Cleo Brown, her brother, Boyd Brown, her father-in-law, Martin Ortiz, her brother-in-law, Corky Rhea, and her sister-in-law, Linda Weiss.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Fairmont Park Church of Christ, 3813 N Midland DR, Midland, TX 79707.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
