Rebecca Gwen Thomas, age 60, of Midland, Texas, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, May 1, 2025, surrounded by her family. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory. A celebration of her life will take place on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at Mid-Cities Church, located at 8700 TX-191, Midland, Texas.
Rebecca was born on August 5, 1964, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Joe and Daisy Bowers. When she was in the fifth grade, she and her family moved to Midland, Texas, where she met her husband and built a beautiful life that she loved deeply.
Rebecca was a devoted wife, mother, and “Mimi” whose greatest joy was her family. Married for 38 years to the love of her life, Rosco Thomas, she poured her heart into raising their three beautiful children. Her love knew no bounds—she was selfless, always giving, always loving. Rebecca had the heart of a servant, offering strength and kindness in equal measure.
She was strong, kind, stubborn, and fiercely strong-willed—all qualities that shaped the lives of those around her for the better. She also found joy in the simple things, especially trips to the beach in Destin, FL (her absolute favorite place on Earth), where she could relax and soak in the beauty of God’s creation and enjoy time with her family. Professionally, she served the Midland Chamber of Commerce with dedication and excellence for 31 years, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues and community. Though she often preferred to stay behind the scenes, her impact was deeply felt by all who knew her.
Rebecca is survived by her devoted husband, Rosco Thomas; her children, Sarah Tankersley and her husband Jason, Stephanie Thomas, Zachary Thomas and his wife Brittany. She was a proud and loving Mimi to Nathan Tankersley, Lance Tankersley, Lily Tankersley, Addi Thomas, Weston Moore, and Dallas Thomas. Rebecca is also survived by her parents, Joe and Daisy Bowers; her sisters, Rachel Lewis, Abigail Davis and her husband Matthew; and her brother, Matthew Bowers and his wife Liz; she also had twenty-one nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all the family and friends who helped throughout this journey. In addition, we would like to offer sincere thanks to April, for her dedication and knowledge and for being there for Rebecca, the Nurses at City of Hope in Goodyear, Arizona, the Midland Fire Department, and The Midland Chamber of Commerce.
Through her own health journey, Rebecca became a passionate advocate for early detection, urging others to prioritize regular health screenings—believing with conviction that early action can save lives.
