My condolences to his family and friends. Ray and I met early in his career. Believe he was at Science Officer training with me in Boulder in 1994. Later we crossed paths when I became the Meteorologist in Charge of the Lubbock office while Ray was the MIC in Midland. I went on to regional headquarters in Fort Worth, so I had the time to occasionally visit Ray and his office. I cherished our friendship, and Ray was always hospitable when we would cross paths. He will be missed.

Al Sandrik left a message on December 27, 2024:
Ray was not only a cherished friend but also a trusted colleague at the National Hurricane Center, as well as my Commanding Officer at Naval Oceanographic Reserve Activity 1274 at NAS Jacksonville, FL. His guidance played a pivotal role in my professional journey, especially in helping me join the National Weather Service after graduating from Florida State University in 1991. Ray's support in securing my position at the National Hurricane Center set the foundation for my career, and I am deeply grateful for the direction he provided me. His upbeat and friendly nature made him a joy to work for and alongside, and I feel fortunate to have had him as both a mentor and a teammate. Though I regret not staying in touch with him during his retirement, I hold onto the hope that he is at peace. My thoughts and prayers are with him, and I am forever thankful for the lasting impact he had on my life.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
