Ray Jones Willis, Jr., 55, of Midland, passed away on Thursday, December 2nd at Midland Memorial Hospital. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 from 5:00PM-7:00PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home, 3800 N. Big Spring St. Midland, TX, 79705. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 1:00PM at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 1412 W. Illinois Ave. Midland, TX, 79701.
Ray was born on June 30, 1966 to Barbara and Ray Willis, Sr in Houston, TX. After serving in the Marines, he was married to his lovely bride, Lydia, for 31 wonderful years. Ray worked in the Oil & Gas industry as a Technical Outside Sales Rep and loved his job. He enjoyed playing golf, volunteering for the Maverick Players and the Summer Mummers, and was devoted to the VFW Post 4149, where he served as the Auxiliary President and Canteen Co-Chair. Ray, always eager to lend a helping hand, was full of great stories, loved to make people laugh and never met a stranger – he will be missed.
He is survived by his wife, Lydia Willis of Midland; his daughter, Whitley Ray Willis of Lubbock and his two precious grandchildren; his parents, Ray and Barbara Willis of Marshall; his sister, Missy Daniels and her husband David of Houston; his nieces, Rayann Trevino and family of Houston, and Alyssa Rae Harris and family of Tyler; and nephew Chase Duffin of Syracuse; sister-in-law, Cher Duffin and husband, Stephen of Houston.
The family suggests memorials be donated to VFW Post 4149 Auxiliary at 409 Veterans Airpark Ln, Midland, TX 79705.
