Randy Alan Brown was born on January 26, 1961 in Midland, TX to Fredrick Gus Brown and Judith Evelyn Garst Brown. He married Carrie Lyn Thomason in 1982. They had three sons, Ryan Alan, Hunter Brent and Robert Sterling.He graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Geology. His career in the oil industry has earned him the reputation of being a highly sought after geologist in the Permian Basin. His work history included US ENCO, Terrace Petroleum, EOG Resources, RAB Energy, Endeavor Energy Resources. He left Endeavor to pursue his dream job of independent oil and gas prospecting for his father.Randy knew the Lord and was strong in his faith. He was a good steward of what the Lord had blessed him with. Throughout his life he was involved with Prison Ministry, Youth Leadership, Mentorship, and Open Door Recovery House.We will miss Randy…our dad, our son, our brother, our uncle, our granddad, our friend. He will be forever remembered for his huge heart, his gift to make people smile and the love he shared.He is survived by his son, Ryan Alan and grandson Hale Michael; son, Hunter Brent and wife Ashley, and grandson Dylan Thomas; son, Robert Sterling; father, Fredrick Gus Brown and wife Karon; mother, Judith Evelyn Garst Brown; sister, Debbie Rampick and husband Kim and children Taylor and Morgan; sister, Heidi Westbrook, and children Holton, Witt, Rilyn and Hudson; brother, Kelly Brown and wife Stephanie and children Bode and Hartley; and stepsister, Shelley Warren and husband Alan, and children Hannah and Hillin. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Herman and Agnes Brown and Robert and Edith Garst.Memorial Services will be held at First United Methodist Church Friday, July 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Immediately following the service, a reception will be held at the Midland Country Club.Open Door is a non-profit organization located in Marble Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Open Door Recovery in honor of Randy.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
