He was born on December 7, 1985, in Midland, Texas, to Genaro Rosa, Jr. and Yolanda Carrillo. Israel lived a life marked by honorable service, adventure, and a deep love for his family.
Israel joined the United States Navy on November 2, 2006, and proudly served his country for 19 years as a Hospital Corpsman, a role that reflected his courage, compassion, and unwavering commitment to others. During his distinguished career, he was awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, and four Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals. Israel honorably served in the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit in 2010, Operation Enduring Freedom from 2011 to 2012, and Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2008 to 2009. His service embodied the Corpsman’s calling to care for those in need, often in the most demanding circumstances, and he carried that same sense of duty and selflessness throughout his life.
Beyond his military service, Israel was known for his adventurous spirit and zest for life. He found joy in skydiving, scuba diving, traveling the world, and exploring new places and cultures. A talented cook, he loved bringing people together through food and laughter. Israel shared an extraordinary bond with his beloved dog, Ander, who was a constant companion and source of comfort, loyalty, and joy throughout his life. He also had a natural sense of humor and a presence that meant a great deal to those who knew him. He was someone people relied on, admired, and loved.
Israel was preceded in death by his father, Genaro Rosa, Jr.; his paternal grandfather, Genaro Rosa, Sr.; and his maternal grandparents, Jesus Carrillo and Margaret Carrillo.
He is survived by his mother, Yolanda Carrillo; his brother, Ismael Rosa; his grandmother, Francisca Rosa; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members who will carry his memory forward with pride and love.
Israel Lorenzo Rosa will be remembered as a devoted son, brother, and friend; a fearless adventurer; and a proud Navy Corpsman whose life touched many and whose legacy of service and love will never be forgotten.
