Peter Curby Buck, 68, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2021. His Home-Going Celebration will be at 11 am Friday, June 11 at the First United Methodist Church located at 300 N. Main St. Midland TX 79701.
Peter Curby Buck was born on March 2, 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri to Robert Theodore Buck, Sr. (Tuskegee Airman) and J. Evelyn Curby Buck (Dietician). His parents preceded him in death. Peter graduated from DeAndres High School and went on to Kansas State where he earned a degree in Landscape Architecture. During college he joined the Omega Psi Phi fraternity and remained in contact with his frat brothers until his passing.
Peter and his brother Robert created a non-profit business “Runners of Truth” to teach and develop youth athletic skills. He also facilitated property and landscaping projects through the St. Louis Urban League and the City of Dallas. In 2001 Peter became part of the St. Louis Powerhouse ministry and in 2006 relocated to the El Paso Powerhouse. During his fulltime ministry career, he became one of El Paso Program Directors. After experiencing God’s amazing grace, love, and deliverance Peter devoted his life to spreading the message to others battling substance abuse bondages.
In January 2011, Peter began a long distance courtship with Angelina “Lena” Davis. They had three face-to-face dates before uniting into a God ordained marriage on July 2, 2011. In 2012 Peter joined Odessa Christian Faith Center and continued his Christian walk under the teachings of Pastor Don Caywood.
Peter’s first job in Midland was with LDI (Lone Star Distributors) for approximately 4 years until the oil bust led to his layoff. He then began teaching for Midland ISD as a Substitute Teacher and later advanced to a full-time teacher position totaling 5 years of service. He enjoyed teaching 5th grade Science at Burnet Elementary school and online science instruction for 9 elementary schools.
Peter is survived by his devoted wife Lena Buck, brother Robert Buck Jr., sister-in-law Joyce Buck, nephew Justin Buck, nieces Lorren Buck, Krystal Giles (Jeremiah Sr.), great nephews (Aden & Jeremiah, Jr), 3 step-daughters Jeni, Trici, and Lici , 13 grandchildren, Omega Psi Phi frat brothers, special brothers in the ministry, and a host of relatives and friends.
