Peggy Jo Taylor beloved Mom, sister, grandmother aunt, cousin, and friend went to be with her lord and savior Jesus Christ Friday, May 31, 2024.Peggy Taylor was born on June 19,1932 in Donnie, Texas to Elmer and Beatrice Lummus.
A funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm, Friday, June 7, 2024 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel.
Her father worked with the Railroad and her mother was a schoolteacher. She accepted Christ and was baptized at a young age. She graduated from the Texas Women’s College on June 2,1952 with a Bachelor of Arts major in mathematics and minor in chemistry education. She moved to Midland, Texas to work for an oil company where she later met her soon-to-be husband Rolly Taylor at a church social. They married on April 23, 1955. She then started working as a schoolteacher.
She went back to school for her Graduate study at Sul Ross University. She graduated with a master’s degree in education on August 14,1970. She had a long fulfilling teaching career. She loved teaching because of the student that she taught. Rolly and Peggy were blessed with two beautiful children, Rolli Jo Taylor and Richard Taylor. Peggy loved traveling, genealogy and spending time with family and friends. She was blessed to have a large family that she loved dearly: husband, children, parents, brother, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who loved her.
Peggy was survived by her brother Donnie Lummus and sister in-law Nenee Lummus, son Richard Taylor and daughter in-law Mary Taylor, grandchildren Molly Zarate, William Taylor, Christina Taylor and Erin Taylor, great grandchildren Christian Johnson, Macy Zarate, Evan Vasquez, Taylor Medlock, Peyton Taylor, niece Clara Lummus and nephew Carlos Lummus and numerous other cousins.
Peggy is preceded in death by her husband Rolly Taylor, daughter Rolli Jo Taylor, parents Elmer and Beatrice Lummus.
The family would like to express their gratitude to her caregivers, Dr. Premila Johnson; her visiting nurse, Helen Larson; and caregiver, Ariel Pantoja.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s hospital.
