Paul Allan Witten, 61, passed away on Friday, September 3, 2010, in Midland, Texas, after a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at 2:00 PM at St. Luke's United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathryn Boren officiating. Paul was born October 22, 1948, to Lansford and Helen Witten in San Antonio, Texas. Paul's childhood was spent throughout several small Texas towns. He graduated from Floresville High School. Following high school Paul answered the call of duty by joining the United States Army. He was honorably discharged after four years of service. In 1990, Paul married Kathy Connell Conn. That same year Paul purchased Witten Pest Control, which he operated in Midland, Texas, until the time of his death. Paul was the ultimate host. He loved having family and friends over to his house and every holiday was a celebration. Paul loved to shop, and would come home almost daily with some item or another. If he was out and saw something he thought someone he knew would enjoy, he would buy it and give it to them. Over the years Paul collected memorabilia from anywhere and everywhere with which he decorated the walls, ceilings, and floor of his infamous "game room." He loved to travel to any city or town that had a casino with slots, and often came home with winnings. To many Paul seemed quiet and reserved, but those who knew him enjoyed his quick wit and dry sense of humor. Paul was an example to others both in the stoic way he dealt with his illness and his generous spirit towards his fellow man. The day Paul joined our family, we "hit the jackpot."Paul is survived by his wife, Kathy Witten; his step-daughters Elizabeth Conn of Front Royal, Virginia, and Rachel Biggerstaff, and husband Rhett, of Midland Texas; his brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Liz Witten of Seguine, Texas; niece Aimee Witten Miller, and husband Ray; and nephew Zeno Witten. He is also survived by his mother and father-in-law, Jo and Perry Connell; sister-in-laws Nancy Reynolds, and husband Chuck, Jane Rambo, and husband Dennis; bother-in-law Paul Connell, and wife Melinda. In addition, Paul is survived by many nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P.O.
