Patty Jean Hobbs went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 31, 2013.Patty was born March 29, 1927 in Bloomburg, TX to Morris and Mildred Cash. She was reared and educated in Bloomburg. She graduated in 1942 as salutatorian of her class. She attended East Texas State and University of Oklahoma. Patty met Mark Hobbs in Dallas in 1946 and they were married on September 18, 1946 at Highland Park Baptist Church in Dallas. She and Mark then moved to Alpine, TX where he attended Sul Ross and later University of Oklahoma.They moved to Midland in 1952 where she worked for Tidewater, several other companies and went to work for Drilco as Secretary and Administrative Assistant until it closed. Patty worked for several other companies until she retired. She loved working in the business world.Patty was a member of Crestview Baptist Church since 1956 where she taught Sunday school for 55 years and served on many committees including Pastor Search Committees.Patty loved her Lord and her family. She loved people and enjoyed being around them and helping them any way she could.Patty is survived by her daughter, Julianne Lawrence and her husband Jerry; her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Hobbs; seven grandchildren, Leslie Nelson, Jeff Hobbs and his wife Pam, Wendy Ghiasinejad, Derek Daugherty and his wife Chelsea, Lindsay Lawrence, Michael Lawrence and his wife Patricia, Matthew Lawrence and his wife Coleen; eleven great grandchildren; three sisters, Nancy McWilliams, Mary Shurtleff and husband Robert, Pam Miller and husband Sam; two brothers, Tommy and wife Sharon, and George and wife Margie; and numerous nieces and nephews.Patty was preceded in death by her husband, Mark, her parents, Morris and Mildred Cash, son, Lee Hobbs, and sister, Nelda Cummins.Memorial contributions may be made to Crestview Baptist Church, Forward by Faith Fund.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
