Today we, the family and friends, celebrate the life of our beloved mother and friend Patricia Ann Hinojosa. Our mother left us too soon on Monday, April 15th at the age of 69 surrounded by her daughters Bonnie Parraz and Linda Franklin. Her daughter Lisa Robles preceded her in death in June 2010. Daughter Patty Lavigne, son Omar Hinojosa, eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive her.Our mother was born in Chicago Illinois on July 30, 1943. She lived a modest but fulfilling life with her five kids in many different areas of the country including Chicago, Los Angeles, Elgin, Lamesa, Amarillo, Albuquerque and McAllen. She had many different jobs including teachers aide, school bus driver, and telemarketer and most recently she was a part of the foster grandparents program with the Midland ISD. She also assisted our father, her husband, for many years in the various churches that he ministered to.Words cannot express the grief that we all feel at the passing of our beloved mother and friend. She meant the world to her family and was truly loved by everyone that she met. Our mother was generous to a fault. She would give her last dollar to her children so they wouldnt go without. She often said if she won the lottery she would like to win at least five million so that she would be able to give one million to each of her children. Every time she would meet with her great grandkids she would always make sure to have a toy for them. Along with her kids and grandkids, they truly were the joy of her life. Our mother also enjoyed working with the foster grandparents program. Part of her joy was being able to work with children, who loved her, on a daily basis. She enjoyed seeing new faces come in every year and the challenges that lay ahead. She enjoyed the friendships she forged with the different teachers. There were many days that she would have stories to tell about their kindness, patience and understanding. One of the many lessons we learned from our mom was to never live in regret. Never live your life thinking about the things you could have done or should do. You are never out of options until you take your last breath. Every new day is a new opportunity. I know that when our mother left us she was at peace knowing she had no regrets. While we are sad for our loss we are comforted knowing that she is finally at peace with our sister Lisa and other family members that have gone before. Our mother was a born again Christian so we know that God has accepted her to her final reward with open arms.Rest in peace, mom, Patricia, Granny Goose, Pat, granny pat, The Mom, and friend.Public viewing for Patricia will begin at noon Friday, April 19, 2013 at the funeral home.
