Owen “Sonny” Dobbs, 77, of Eunice, New Mexico, passed Wednesday, October 9, 2024 in Big Spring, Texas. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 12, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Eunice with Brother John Dean Davis, officiating.
“Sonny” was born August 23, 1947 in Newport, Arkansas to parents Vivian (Tidwell) and Cecil Owen Dobbs. He married Linda Schulte May 10, 1970 in Oglesville, Missouri. He was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Army. Sonny was the proud owner of Dobbs Construction for 42 years. There isn’t a home in Lea County that doesn’t have at least one nail driven by him. He adopted every young boy that worked for him and considered them his own. He made men out of those boys. His girls went on to follow in his footsteps doing Interior Design and home renovations. He would have been proud to change the name to Dobbs and Daughters Construction.
He always had a crazy story for anyone that would take the time to visit with him. He would do anything for anyone no matter what it took. He would give his last dollar to someone more in need than himself.
There isn’t a McDonald’s from New Mexico to Arkansas that he hasn’t stopped at, especially for his grandbabies.
He was baptized last night next to his daughter Kim.
“Sonny” is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Dobbs; his daughters: Kim Motes (Larry), Dawn Money (Donny) and Angie Dobbs (Partner Jay Hare); his sons by heart: Bubba Boman and Jeffrey Seay; his beloved 5 stars: Bre’Anna Dunham, Shelby Dobbs, Brittney Aten, Alyson Motes, and Jacob Motes; his pride and joy are his great-grandchildren: Austin, Dally, Atley, Sunny, Miah, Jessie Kate, Jax and Colt; along with 5 nieces and 1 nephew and all his family by heart that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Vivian (Tidwell) Dobbs; sister: Maxine Jones (Jesse), Ivonne Graue (Bill) and Mary Wilkins and one brother J.C. Dobbs.
Honorary Pallbearers will be J.D. Davis, Bob Sikes, Charlie Bettis, Bubba Bowman, Jeffrey Seay, Scott Graue, Bud Hobbs, Fred Ferbrache and Wayne Henson.
