Oleta Lavern Clanton, 76, of Big Spring, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Jim Binnix, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. Oleta was born October 11, 1937 in Rotan, Texas and married Charles Clanton February 11, 1955 in Odessa, Texas. She graduated from Odessa High School and had worked at Hemphill Wells, Village Shoes, Walls and First National Bank. She and Charlie owned and operated Lakeway Grocery from 1990 to 1998. She loved gardening, sewing and spending time cooking for her family.She was a member of Midway Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Charlie Clanton of Big Spring; one son, Randy Clanton and wife, Tricia of Big Spring; one daughter, Angie Sloan and husband, Iain of Coahoma; two sisters, Barbara Daniels of Big Spring, and Billie Parsons of Giddings; three grandsons, Chance Clanton, Cory Clanton and Chase Clanton all of Big Spring; two granddaughters, Kyla Clanton of Big Spring and Jordan Matthews of Coahoma; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, Rupert and Jessie (Watley) Townsend.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
